Capcom's 1990 Game Boy original spun Firebrand — a villain from Ghosts 'n Goblins — into his own action-RPG with a world map, towns, and upgradeable abilities well before that became a handheld staple. It's a legitimate early DMG design achievement: real progression systems crammed into a launch-window portable. The series continued with Gargoyle's Quest II on NES and Demon's Crest on SNES, but the Game Boy original has the cleanest pedigree and belongs in any serious Capcom GB collection.
