One of the nine Japan launch titles that shipped alongside the Game Boy in April 1989, developed by Nintendo R&D1 as a straightforward demonstration of what the hardware could do. It's a simple nine-inning baseball game with no named teams, but it's historically significant as a day-one system title and a reliable, cheap entry for launch-set collectors. The US version followed at launch there as well.
