Midway Studios Austin rebuilt the Area 51 name from scratch — this isn't a port of the 1995 rail shooter but a full first-person shooter that cast David Duchovny and Marilyn Manson in voice roles, a casting decision that got it real press attention at launch. The game itself is a competent if unremarkable mid-2000s FPS, but the celebrity voices and the brand-name revival made it a notable Midway release from a period when the publisher was trying to revive its arcade-era properties.
